The Face that Launched a Thousand Ships

I had the awesome opportunity to work with Aimee Baker on her retro-hair photoshoot! The concept character was Helen of Troy, from the 1950s Warner Brother's Film. She created a modern interpretation of the character and asked me to do the makeup.

I airbrushed her skin all over the body in a light gold sheen. Aimee added a pre-built hair piece to the side of Alexa's (our model) hair and we worked some gold sheen through that as well.

The rest of the makeup was a little bit of 50s inspired technique, with a modern softness and the gold sheen over top. The overall look gave her a beautiful ethereal look while still keeping in mind the history of Helen of Troy.

"Was this the face that launch'd a thousand ships
And burnt the topless towers of Ilium?
Sweet Helen, make me immortal with a kiss."
-'Doctor Faustus', by Christopher Marlowe

Thank you Aimee and Alexa! I had a blast working with you!
